Weekendesk is an online travel agency specialized in weekends and themed breaks and combining hotels with activities (wellness, gastronomy, relaxation, adventure…).
Founded in 2000, the Paris-based company wants to become Europe’s leading short-break provider by 2020 and says the investment will help it accelerate growth.
The company has just expanded into the Netherlands and expect further country launches in the first half of 2016.
In a statement Weekendesk says it is attracting two million unique visitors a month on its websites and saw 340,000 bookings in 2015.
Its Spanish site is growing fastest, up 52% in sales on 2014 to Euro 20 million.
